Welcome to The Valiquette Family Tree!

Some families know a great deal about their roots; others know very little. This site is an attempt to record what I've learned about our family history. In these modern times, families tend to be scattered all over the country, if not the world. One of the goals of this web site is to help our family stay connected even though we live far apart.

Ernie Joseph Valiquette

My Name is Ernest (Ernie) Joseph Valiquette and I am 49 years old born in  Newmarket, ON Canada. I am the youngest of 6 children.


I have been doing the Valiquette Family Tree since 1987 and I have well over 19,559 individules and 7,358 families in my database. You will find on this site that all living person's dates of birth (1915 and after) will be missing to conform with the Privacy Laws of Canada and the United States.

If you find a person or Family you are interested in, you may contact me and I will give you the dates and if you have anything I require we can exchange information.

When you go through the Tree you will find that the Valiquette name has many different spellings. The orignal spelling is VALIQUET.

Family Tree Programs I use

I use two different Family Tree Programs, Legacy Family Tree  and Brother's Keeper both are excellant programs and I recomend them both.    You can find the links to both these programs on my Link page.  The two programs are free but the free version is limited to some extras that are nice to have.
 
The reason I use the two is that Brother's Keeper has a wonderful search feature when you add a name it pops up a list box with everyone in your database, with their name and their year of birth and shows thier spouse's. This is excellant for checking for duplicates or finding persons and there spouse's.  Brother's Keeper is recomended for the beginner as it is so simple and easy to use.
 
I perfer Legacy over all but I do not like the search feature on it.  Legacy will let you add the person but does not pop up everyone in the database with the same name like Brother's Keeper does.  With Legacy you have to search for the person first then add them.  Legacy has an excellent duplicate checker and it saves me hours of work.
 
I recomend that you check them both out and decide for yourself.
